Three of his former companions testified. The mayor of Penne-sur-Huveaune (Bouches-du-Rhône) was indicted for acts of rape and domestic violence against several former partners, the Marseille prosecutor’s office announced this Thursday in a press release. The elected official, in police custody since Monday, was placed in pre-trial detention on Wednesday.
Nicolas Bazzucchi, 29, is accused of several acts of violence and rape against three women, presented as his ex-partners, over a period extending from January 1, 2023 to July 21, 2024.
His indictment follows the “collection of testimonies from three alleged victims” but also the “investigations” of investigators as well as “searches carried out at his home and at the town hall”, declares the prosecution, which specifies having been seized from August on this matter.
He was indicted for: “habitual violence against a spouse or ex-spouse leading to total incapacity for work for more than 8 days, in this case 20 days, to the detriment of two former partners”, “rape against a spouse or ex -spouse to the detriment of two former partners”, “violence against a spouse or ex-spouse not having resulted in total incapacity for work to the detriment of a former partner”, but also “fixation, recording of images presenting a sexual of a person found in a private place without their consent committed by the spouse or ex-spouse. »
Nicolas Bazzucchi denied the facts of rape and aggravated violence but admitted “certain behavior likely to be criminal,” wrote the prosecution. His lawyer told France Bleu that it was not necessarily blows, but “insults”, “screams” or even “spitting”, without giving further details. “It’s about toxic relationships. There was mutual violence,” adds the lawyer.
Asks him for the release of his client, placed in pre-trial detention. “There is an instruction which must arrive at the manifestation of the truth. The obligations of judicial review are sufficient. Detention has no place in this matter,” he told local radio. He also specifies that the mayor does not intend, for the moment, to resign from his functions.
