Cold and bright today with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will become isolated by the end of the day. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.

Cold tonight with a touch of frost possible in the east. Turning cloudier from the west overnight with a few showers for western areas, turning to light rain or drizzle by dawn. Staying mostly dry further east with lowest temperatures generally ranging between 1 and 5 degrees, in moderate southwest to west winds.

A band of rain will push eastwards across the country Friday morning, clearing the southeast coast around afternoon. Blustery conditions with sunshine and scattered showers will then follow, becoming increasingly isolated by evening time. Maximum temperatures will generally range between 8 and 11 degrees, in mostly fresh to strong west to southwest winds.

Becoming cloudy overnight on Friday as outbreaks of showery rain move in from the Atlantic during the night, clearing to isolated showers by dawn. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty west to southwest winds.

Saturday is expected a windy day overall with sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers possibly of hail, especially in parts of the northwest. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds.

Cold and blustery on Saturday night with clear spells and scattered showers, some of the showers possibly turning wintry, especially in parts of Ulster and on higher ground. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees.

Another cold and blustery or windy day on Sunday with sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers possibly of hail. Maximum afternoon temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty northwest winds.

Showers become isolated overnight on Sunday, with clear spells. Cloud will build from the west with light rain developing in the southwest by dawn. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Becoming cloudy on Monday as light outbreaks of rain and drizzle spread from the west through the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, in light to moderate southerly breezes, veering westerly later on.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: Current indications suggest that it’ll be mostly cloudy with some light rain and drizzle. The rain likely to be most frequent in parts of the west and northwest of the country, with the driest conditions further east.

Temperatures look set to range around 10 to 13 degrees for Christmas eve and Christmas day along with moderate southwest winds. It will remain mild overnight midweek also with no frost expected.
