No red for Singo but Harit expelled during OM-PSG… Daniel Riolo’s misunderstanding of the refereeing

Daniel Riolo, columnist for After Foot on RMC, does not understand the decision not to exclude Wilfried Singo for his attack on Gianluigi Donnarumma. He believes that it was worth more of a red than the expulsion of Amine Harit during the OM-PSG clash.

Like many, Daniel Riolo did not understand why Wilfried Singo had not been sent off for his sole in the face of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Wednesday during Monaco-PSG (2-4). In the After, the RMC editorialist explains, however, that he does not really appreciate the award of a red card at the start of the match. However, he believes that a player who has injured another has no place on the field. According to him, Singo was more likely to be expelled on Wednesday than Amine Harit during the last clash between OM and PSG (0-3), on October 27. The Moroccan midfielder received a direct red for a sole in the stomach of Marquinhos. A highly contested choice from referee François Letexier… who was on the whistle on Wednesday during Monaco-PSG.

“If the guy you fouled leaves the field, you should no longer be on the field.”

“I am anti-red card, I hate red cards, I would like it to be reserved for extraordinary cases,” he explains. “I don’t like it, especially when it comes at the start of the match, it destroys a match, it distorts the match. In this specific case, it’s a bit at the start of the match but for me, there’s really a form of limit – and this was not the case in –: if the guy you fouled leaves the field because he is damaged and cannot continue that must be a major indicator that you should no longer be on the ground and there is a box red.”

“That’s why I was against the red card at the Vélodrome,” he continues. “OK, he (Marquinhos, who had resumed his place) has the scar but I never gave life a red card at the Vélodrome. Mr. Letexier had arrived (and had put on red), it was immediate. But there, this evening…”

An opinion rather shared by Walid Acherchour. “There is a lack of consistency,” regrets the After Foot member. “Amine Harit, I found that he could not see Marquinhos (on the action of the red). You saw that he did not want to touch Marquinhos. There, Singo is in the duel, shoots, Donnarumma arrives quickly and on the jump , he (Singo) cannot do otherwise.”
