This Wednesday, December 18, the Court of Cassation confirmed the conviction of the former president, pronounced in 2021, to one year in prison under an electronic bracelet for corruption and influence peddling. Giulia’s father had hoped, for three years, that his appeal would be approved. In a press release published a few minutes after the announcement of this decision, the sixty-year-old repeated his « innocence »pointing a “profound injustice”.
On Instagram, his wife Carla Bruni, who has constantly defended him for twelve years, immediately relayed his speech on her account. Already in 2021, she had shown all her support for her husband on the social network with a strong message: “What insane relentlessness my love… the fight continues, the truth will come to light. » If Nicolas Sarkozy says today “take responsibility”he also announces that he will refer the matter to the European Court of Human Rights.
