Ranieri refuses to rule out Dybala’s Roma exit in January

Claudio Ranieri says he hasn’t perceived Paulo Dybala’s desire to leave Roma in January but insists the player can depart if he has ‘other priorities.’

Ranieri spoke about Dybala’s future in an interview with SportMediaset on Tuesday, on the eve of a Coppa Italia match against Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Everyone plays his role and does his job. I’m glad to have him and play him when he’s fit,” said the Italian tactician.

“If he has other priorities, two parties must agree on it. If he doesn’t want to stay, there is a possibility [to leave]. I only want players who are happy to stay here.”

However, Ranieri insisted that he hadn’t perceived Dybala’s desire to leave Roma last month: “Not at all,” he said.

“So they talk!” Ranieri said smiling.

“You keep saying they don’t talk, but they do! I won’t comment; what the club tells me stays internal,” argued Ranieri.

“We will keep our eyes open, bringing players worthy of Roma who upgrade those we have. I want players who improve the team; otherwise, we are fine.”

Dybala has scored two goals and provided one assist in 18 appearances across all competitions with Roma this term.
