It’s D-day for the Christmas bonus! This exceptional end-of-year aid from the State will be paid, starting this Tuesday, December 17, into the bank accounts of some 2.3 million eligible low-income households.
All the beneficiaries, in November or December 2024, active solidarity income (RSA), by the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), of the lump sum bonus for resumption of activity and of retirement equivalent allowance (AER) must receive it.
No action is necessary to perceive it. It is distributed automatically to eligible people, for a minimum amount of 152,45 € (excluding Mayotte, whose scale is specific), by the family allowance funds (CAF), the funds of the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi).
If you think you are entitled to it and it is not being paid, don’t panic! Maybe it’s just a matter of day. Explanations.
The first payments of the Christmas bonus begin on December 17, but the date on which the sum is credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts varies depending on the processing times of the banking establishments. “Depending on your bank, it may take up to 8 working days before the payment is posted to your bank account”thus warns the Family Allowance Fund. It is therefore possible that financial aid will not be paid to you until next week. However, this remains exceptional. In general, you should allow between 24 and 72 hours to see the payment appear in your bank account.
The delay may also be due to a processing problem at the banking level. Call your bank to make sure. The CAF and France Travail also recommend checking that your personal information (RIB, family situation, etc.) is up to date in your personal space.
If you have only been a beneficiary of RSA, ASS or AER since December 2024, it is normal that you will not receive the bonus this month. Its payment will take place in January 2025.
Another possible explanation if you don’t see anything arriving in your bank account: you are simply not entitled to this financial assistance. As indicated at the beginning of the article, this boost from the State is only aimed at recipients of certain social minimums (RSA, ASS, AER, flat-rate return to work bonus). But be careful to receive the bonus, the right to the allowance must be current for the month of November or December 2024.
Finally, if you are eligible for the Christmas bonus but have not received it, it may simply be that the CAF, the MSA or France Travail have forgotten to pay it to you. This scenario is rare, but not impossible. So contact your organization to ask.
