The East Flanders federal judicial police carried out several house searches on Wednesday, December 11, in Mortsel (3), Antwerp, Heist-op-den-Berg, Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver and Vilvoorde. Four people were deprived of their liberty and taken for questioning. The investigating judge at the court of first instance in East Flanders, Dendermonde department, has placed three of them under arrest because it is believed that they are members of a criminal organization and traffic in narcotics.
On Monday, December 16, a second series of searches took place in Temse, Nijlen, Stabroek, Beveren, Hoogstraten and Moerbeke. Five more people were deprived of their liberty and taken for questioning. The investigating judge will later decide whether to issue an arrest warrant for them.
This intervention is part of the dismantling of a possible criminal network that appears to be involved in the import into Europe of drugs from South America.
