“I felt like I played well in parts of the game. I just kept going in the game. I was trying too hard at times to play well but that’s and part and parcel of the first round, you just want to get through. I’ve done that now, I can enjoy Christmas. I will be cooking Christmas dinner again and I can enjoy doing it.
On whether he was back to his best: “I think in patches of that game, I tried a little bit too hard. That’s just the passion in me wanting to win. Now I’ve got through the first round, I will enjoy Christmas and come back a different animal. For me, this was a qualifying round to get into the World Championship, I split it up into two. I’ll come back after Boxing Day and be raring to go.”
