This morning at around 6 a.m., Nicolas Bazzucchi was arrested by the police at his home on Boulevard Voltaire, a witness to the arrest reported to our colleagues.

The councilor of Penne-sur-Huveaune was then taken to the town hall from which he emerged handcuffed. The 29-year-old elected official was immediately placed in police custody on suspicion of rape and aggravated violence against spouse, according to information from Provence confirmed by the prosecutor's office.

Searches were carried out at his home and in the town hall buildings, our colleagues pointed out.

Nicolas Bazzucchi was elected mayor in March 2022, succeeding the communist Christine Capdeville.
