Press release from André Chassaigne, president of the GDR group in the National Assembly, Emeline K/Bidi, deputy of Réunion and vice-president of the GDR group, Cécile Cukierman, president of the CRCE-K group in the Senate and Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party.
This afternoon, André Chassaigne, president of the GDR group in the National Assembly, Emeline K/Bidi, deputy of Réunion and vice-president of the group, Cécile Cukierman, president of the CRCE-K group in the Senate and Fabien Roussel, secretary national of the French Communist Party participated in the meeting organized by the President of the Republic between the different political forces having accepted the principle of dialogue to find a way out of the political crisis into which the President himself has plunged the country.
This new meeting was an opportunity for the delegation to recall, once again, the demand for a profound change of political direction, in accordance with the very clear desire expressed by the French on the occasion. of the last legislative elections.
Although the discussions largely focused on questions of method, we recalled the urgent measures that we considered essential to meet the expectations of our fellow citizens (indexation of salaries and pensions to inflation, repeal of the pension reform , ban on stock market layoffs, defense of public services, plan for new industrialization, reduction in the cost of electricity, active diplomacy in favor of peace…) and put an end to the social crisis which, in France and even more so in the Overseas Territories, is exploding, plunging tens of thousands of families into precariousness.
Together, the representatives of the left-wing and environmental forces present carried the common demand that a Prime Minister from the NFP be appointed by the President of the Republic, in respect of the democratic choice expressed by our fellow citizens last July.
In this context and in a spirit of responsibility, if a left-wing government committed not to use article 49-3, the opposition could commit not to vote on a motion of censure.
This, in the obligation imposed on the future government to find, for each text of law, a majority, is a possible guarantee allowing parliamentary work to be given its proper place again.
At this time, faced with the absence of any response and commitment from the presidential camp, we solemnly call on the President of the Republic not to further prolong this democratic crisis which has lasted too long, by naming, a Prime Minister from the electoral alliance which won the greatest number of seats in the Assembly and, today, ready to govern the country.
This is the only way to meet the expectations and needs of our compatriots and stem the rise of the extreme right.
If the President of the Republic persisted in ignoring the results of the polls and the wishes of the French by appointing a Government in line with previous ones, he would bear sole responsibility for the political and social chaos which will not fail to occur. happen.
