DECREE
ANTECEDENT
The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, updates the situation and declares the maximum alert for wind in El Hierro, La Gomera and northern and western areas of Tenerife, starting at 12:30 p.m. today, Saturday. December 14.
It also declares the alert situation for the same phenomenon on the island of La Palma and municipalities in the east and south of Tenerife and maintains the islands of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote on pre-alert status.
This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS
First.- The Municipal Emergency Plan of El Sauzal approved by Plenary Agreement dated November 26, 2021, and approved by the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Civil Protection and Emergency Response Commission of the Canary Islands, dated 29 of December 2021 and published BOC No. 22, of February 1, 2022, while the Meteorological Alert situation declared by the Directorate remains in force. Second.- In accordance with the provisions of the PEMU, the body competent to activate the aforementioned plan as its Director (article 4) is the mayor or person to whom he delegates.
Based on what was stated above, RESOLVED
FIRST.- Declare the activation of the Municipal Emergency Plan of El Sauzal approved by Plenary Agreement dated November 26, 2021, and approved by the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Civil Protection and Emergency Response Commission of the Canary Islands, dated December 29, 2021 and published BOC No. 22 , of February 1, 2022, while the Meteorological Alert situation declared by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands remains in force.
SECOND.- Suspend outdoor sports and leisure activities that, if applicable, were planned by this City Council and individuals, during December 14, 2024.
THIRD.- Activate all municipal services.
FOURTH.- Agree on the following recommendations:
•Avoid traveling by road as much as possible, and if necessary, take extreme precautions until normality is restored.
•Suspend private activities that involve large influx of public or traffic congestion.
•Remain attentive to the information that is issued regarding the monitoring of the meteorological phenomenon through official information sources and the media.
•Close doors and windows to avoid drafts that could lead to breaking and falling glass.
•Remove flower pots and all objects that could fall onto the street from balconies and rooftops.
•Check the homes so that there are no cornices, balconies and facades in poor condition that could cause falling debris.
•Avoid going hiking or camping until normality is restored.
•The use of public transportation is recommended.
•Motorcycles and large vehicles that offer a large contact surface with the wind (trucks, vans, vehicles with trailers or caravans) run the risk of overturning in cross winds.
•Avoid walking through gardens or wooded areas.
•Stay away from walls, old houses, scaffolding, illuminated signs, billboards and other structures that can be blown over by the wind.
•Light poles and tension towers are dangerous. Stay away and in case of risk, call 1-1-2.
•In case of risk from construction cranes, immediately notify 1-1-2.
•Try to stay away from the coast (beaches, boardwalks, dock breakwaters, etc.) to avoid being hit or dragged by the action of the waves.
•Drive slowly and with caution in the event of possible obstacles on the road or gusts of wind that could cause you to lose control of your vehicle, especially when overtaking.
•Avoid calling by phone, in order to prevent the lines from collapsing.
•In case of emergency do not hesitate to call 1-1-2.
•For any information request, call 0-12.
FIFTH.- Send information to the Post Commander of the Civil Guard of Tacoronte, Local Police, Mr. Head of Civil Protection and Mr. Person in Charge of Services of the City Council of El Sauzal, for his information and effects.
SIXTH.- Formally communicate the activation of the Municipal Emergency Plan of the City Council of El Sauzal to the Department of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands (General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands), to the Island Council of Security of the Island Council of Tenerife, to the neighboring Municipalities (Tacoronte, El Rosario, Candelaria and La Matanza), to the Service of Civil Protection of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands and Technical Service of Forest Management of the Island Council of Tenerife.
SEVENTH.- Publish on the Municipal Notice Board.
