“I have a hunch. Mine is that Sporting will be successful against Benfica”, says Menezes Rodrigues
Sporting fueled the expectations of its fans. But Ruben Amorim's departure plunged the Alvalade club into a results crisis. Menezes Rodrigues says he can only “pray” to Sporting.
Menezes Rodrigues is sad with the performance of the green and white team. Even so, the former leader called for the union of Sporting fans to pray. “We have to pray that things go as well as possible for us”, appealed Menezes Rodrigues.
The former director says that there are no alternatives left for Sporting fans at this point in the season. “There is nothing to do. There is nothing more to do”, highlighted Menezes Rodrigues, who warned that he is already convinced that it is necessary to “pray”.
Menezes Rodrigues wants Sporting to “pray”
“I'm going to pray that Sporting can hold on”, said the former green and white leader, speaking on Antena 1. There, Menenzes Rodrigues cleared João Pereira of the context of difficulties that Sporting is facing.
“Poor João Pereira who accepted this difficult role. I wouldn't accept it”, assured Menenzes Rodrigues. Furthermore, the former director hopes that Frederico Varandas can find a solution.
“You have to find a solution,” he said. And he added: “President Varandas will find a way out.” However, Sporting fans fear that the club will plunge further into setbacks.
After the draw in Barcelos, the reception to Benfica follows. But then, Menezes Rodrigues has a favorable opinion for the national champions. The former Sporting director does not believe that Benfica will be happy in Alvalade.
Sporting por Menezes Rodrigues: All that remains is to pray and wait for Balconies
“I have a hunch. We always have hunches. Mine is that Sporting will be successful with Benfica. It's a hunch I have”, predicted Menezes Rodrigues, former green and white manager.
“Poor João Pereira who accepted this difficult role. I wouldn't accept it”
With the departure of Ruben Amorim, Sporting suffered a wave of setbacks. It's true that Sporting won some games, but they weren't as convincing as they had been during the season.
In this way, it is already they made it sound “some bells” at the Leo club. There are even those who consider that if “Ruben Amorim had stayed, Sporting would have almost won the championship”.
This is, in any case, a scenario that does not arise at the moment. The so-called big three are close in the championship standings. Sporting dominated with Ruben Amorim. But leaving for Manchester took Alvalade's confidence. Now, all that’s left is to “pray”, as Menezes Rodrigues calls for.
