Ittihad Tangier Club announced, in a second statement, that, in accordance with the wishes of the family of the deceased Abdel Latif Akhrif, funeral prayers will be held for his pure soul this Friday evening, with burial taking place in the Bir Shefa neighborhood cemetery.
Fares Al-Boughaz had announced this Friday morning, after an agreement with the family of the late player Abdul Latif Akhraif, may God have mercy on him, that funeral prayers would be held for his pure soul on Sunday, December 15, after the noon prayer, in order to give the players, team components and fans the opportunity to attend the funeral ceremony.
In the late hours of yesterday, Thursday, the Algerian authorities handed over the body of Abdellatif Akhrif, the Ittihad Tangier player, who had appeared on the Algerian coast after drowning on the M’diq beach last summer.
The Moroccan authorities received the body of Akharif at the border crossing between Morocco and Algeria, “a pair of mules,” after 5 months of waiting. The body of the deceased was transferred to the mortuary in the city of Oujda, immediately after it was received by the Moroccan authorities.
It is worth noting that Akhrif passed away last July, after drowning while swimming with some of his team’s players on one of the beaches of the Strait, where the player, Abdul Hamid Maali, who was affiliated with the club, was rescued, while Abdul Latif Akhrif was not found, to be confirmed later after the news of his death. His body was found on a beach in Algeria last August.
