Municipal news in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges: first declared candidates and developments

“The prefect of Val-de- noted the crossing on November 15, 2024 of the threshold of one third of vacant positions on the municipal council of the commune of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, following several resignations of municipal councilors. Consequently, in application of article L. 270 of the electoral code and after having consulted the elected representatives of the department (the deputy of the constituency, the senators, the president of the Departmental Council as well as the mayor of the commune), an order convening voters was signed by the sub-prefect of L'Haÿ-les-Roses and published in the collection of acts
administrative this Thursday, December 12”,
announces the prefecture.

This decree sets the dates of the by-elections as January 26, 2025 for the first round and February 2, 2025 for the second round.

Submission of applications

A new decree will be issued next week to indicate the deadline for submitting applications, adds the prefecture, requested by 94 Citizens. In principle, however, the deadline for submitting lists and candidacies is the third Thursday preceding the election, i.e. January 9, 2025.

A decision “unilateral” deplores the mayor of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Philippe Gaudin, who warns, in a press release published this Thursday evening, to study with his team “all legal avenues likely to be implemented”. The councilor believes that the state services have “disregards the validity of certain resignations”which he believes “only the mayor is responsible for verifying the content and validity”.

Candidates who are preparing

For now, the candidates who have confirmed to 94 Citizens their intention to run are:

  • Philippe Gaudin, outgoing DVD mayor, who leaves without label, notably with the elected officials who remained faithful to him
  • Kristell Niasme (LR), her former first assistant, who leaves with the running mates who followed her and a “renewed team”.
  • Eric Colson (UDI) who works at a large center – center right. According to our information, a meeting is being organized next Monday on this subject with the departmental representatives of Modem, Renaissance and the UDI. Read detailed article
  • Daniel Henry (PCF)former first deputy of Sylvie Altman, who is trying to unite on the left with the Radicals, the PS and the Ecologists Read detailed article
  • Louis Boyard, LFI deputy, who intends to rely on his excellent electoral score in the city during the municipal elections Read detailed article
  • On the side of the Insoumis, Mamadou Traore, community activist, was also preparing to go on campaign until last week. “We had already shot the campaign video,” indicates one of his relatives, a member of LFI. Even with a list name “Villeneuvoise citizen initiatives”. Mamadou Traore himself is not a member of LFI “but in training at the Institut La Boétie (school of La Insoumise)”, specifies this same source. It was Thursday, December 5 that Louis Boyard announced his intention to run, before making the announcement official this Tuesday. “A cold shower”, summarizes the rebellious source, for whom this candidacy engaged in a manner “unilateral” smells national.“This is not an order from LFI”, Louis Boyard's entourage denies this, recalling the deputy's roots in Villeneuve, in particular his actions to save the Asphalte social center or help residents find rehousing after the fire in Triage. And to specify that explanations took place so that everyone left united. Mamadou Traore's team, which was to bring together rebels and citizens, planned to meet this Thursday evening to decide what action to take.

No RN

The National Rally will not be part of it. “We prefer to prepare a team for 2026”, tells us Francis Prétot, departmental delegate of the RN. At DLF, Lionel Mazurié does not plan to launch either.

First campaign frictions

  • GDPR This Thursday, a resident indicated that she had reported to the CNIL the contact registration form of future candidate Louis Boyard for non-compliance with the GDPR, reporting “the total absence of information on the purpose and duration of data retention” no more than on the access rights of respondents to the data stored concerning them, the contact to exercise their right, and also to mention the absence of a box to coach to express their consent and mention on the confidentiality policy. “The form was put online by a team of volunteers”, explains the candidate's team, adding that the form had been brought into compliance.
