A planned Islamist attack targeting the town hall of was foiled, we learned this Sunday, October 8. Three young men, committed to jihadist theories, were indicted.

Three young men were indicted on Saturday in , suspected of having planned violent action in with explosive devices, AFP learned on Sunday from a source close to the case, confirmed by the anti-terrorism prosecution.

These suspects, aged 19 and 20, were placed in pre-trial detention. According to two sources familiar with the matter, they had ordered materials to make homemade bombs.

Two of them are being prosecuted for unauthorized manufacture of an explosive device and for possession and transport of an incendiary or explosive substance or product, said the national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office (Pnat). Like the third accused, they are also being prosecuted for criminal terrorist association.

Acquired to jihadist theses

According to sources close to the case, the young men were radicalized around jihadist theories and exchanged views on the internet. They were planning to attack Poitiers town hall, one of them said.

“The targets are not consolidated” at this stage of the investigation, underlined the other close source.

Tuesday and Wednesday, the three men were placed in police custody, after being arrested in Nîmes and , according to the two sources close to the case. They were arrested as part of a preliminary investigation opened on November 20, confirmed the Pnat. Investigations are now entrusted to investigating magistrates.
