KRC Genk: Hendrik Van Crombrugge extends contract until 2027

Goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge signed a new contract with KRC Genk. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, whose current contract would expire in 2026, will remain at the Cegeka Arena until at least 2027, with an option for an extra season.

The experienced goalkeeper started the season on the bench due to an injury, but has been the regular choice in the league matches since match day. Current number two Mike Penders, who will probably be behind the bar in the cup against Standard, made a transfer to Chelsea earlier this season but normally spends the season on loan.

Head of Dimitri de Condé is satisfied with Van Cambrugge’s contract extension. “Hendrik has a strong personality and a positive influence on team dynamics. His presence in the locker room and on the field is greatly appreciated by both the technical staff and his fellow players.”

Future perspective

Van Crombrugge himself reacts enthusiastically to his extended stay in the Cegeka Arena. “I am extremely satisfied with the confidence of the club. I felt at home here from minute one and am proud to be part of this fantastic project. The ambition of KRC Genk fits in perfectly with my own objectives. I look forward to pursuing successes together in the coming years.” (mg)
