“Today, I am living another dream with LOSC”, Rémy Cabella bursts the abscess following tensions in

Heckled by the public this Sunday, notably following a clash with Téji Savanier during the duel between LOSC and Montpellier HSC (2-2), Rémy Cabella tried to explain himself on social networks to put an end to the debates .

This Sunday, on the occasion of the fourteenth day of Ligue 1, Rémy Cabella (34 years old) found his old audience in Montpellier. Far from being welcomed as a hero, despite the fact that he was part of the generation that won the title of French Champion in 2012, he was the target of certain whistles throughout the match. Trained at the MHSC, he chose to return to Hérault in April 2022 following the premature end of his adventure in Krasnodar, Russia. This return to his roots was, however, only a freelance job, when he signed for LOSC the following summer. This sudden departure was partly not digested, as were the scenes of joy in which he participated during Jonathan David's opening score (44′).

During the game, Rémy Cabella also distinguished himself by elbowing Téji Savanier when Benoît Millot, referee of the day, was consulting the video to award a potential penalty to . The latter sanctioned him with an orange-yellow card (52′), an insufficient sanction in the eyes of the Montpellier supporters who then targeted him. Heavily whistled by the public since the start of the game, even more so since the scuffle, he was the author of a final foul (67′) and came out affected by the hostile atmosphere at the Stade de la Mosson (68′) . Bruno Genesio, on the bench, seemed to have sensed this and preferred to put an end to this relentlessness.

When the final whistle blew, Rémy Cabella did not respond favorably to media requests: “I'm not going to talk. I'm sorry, but I think there have already been enough reactions like that.”he said as he left the Montpellier enclosure. He still spoke a few moments later, via his Instagram account on social networks: “Some people have short memories but I hope one day someone will tell you the whole truth”he wrote in the description of a publication in which he celebrates one of Jonathan David's achievements.

“There is a dispute and Cabella’s resentment is well-founded”

The truth? On the set of The Evening Team,
program broadcast on The Team ChannelGrégory Schneider (journalist at Liberation) recalled the context of these strong tensions. These clearly stem from the return of Lille to Montpellier in 2022:
“When (Rémy) Cabella returned from abroad, he spent a few months in Montpellier. There was talk of having him sign definitively behind, but (Téji) Savanier went to the office of Laurent Nicollin (president of the MHSC) to tell him that it was either Cabella or him. Savanier, having the force of law since he is not just any player in Montpellier, won his case and Cabella was shown the exit. When he called the president, there was no one on the phone. There is this dispute there and Cabella’s resentment is well-founded”explained the columnist in the small window.

“Today, I’m living another dream with LOSC”

Aware that events had escalated, Rémy Cabella spoke at length on social networks, trying to calm the heat of the debates: “I would like to thank everyone who supports the MHSC and still supports me today. I love and always will love the club. I will never forget the magical moments we all experienced together. I am wholeheartedly with Jean-Louis Gasset and Ghislain Printant in saving the club. Know that I would have liked the story to end where it began, but not for some”he said, also implying the reasons that pushed him to leave Hérault in the summer of 2022.

“I will never be grateful enough to LOSC for trusting me, for making me live a dream and for being happy todayhe said, before concluding a few hours later. To close the debates!! I dreamed of ending my story at MHSC where it all began but some people wanted it otherwise. Today I am living another dream with LOSC and I am very grateful to my club. Thanks to all the supporters for the support. »
