An online ticket office will be launched on Tuesday to reserve a visit slot. The first will be able to go there from Sunday at 5:30 p.m., one hour before the first mass open to the public.
The time has finally come. Five and a half years after the fire, the first tickets to visit Notre-Dame will be available from Tuesday. The cathedral is not only the business of architects and the faithful, it is “French pride” praises Emmanuel Macron. To try to regulate the expected crowds, the diocese of Paris is launching its ticket office on Tuesday, accessible on the site and through a new mobile application. It allows you to reserve a time slot for free. If reservation is not obligatory outside of certain masses, it remains strongly recommended given the risk of large crowds.
The mobile application will be available on iOS and Android systems. Online registration is also possible, from Tuesday until the same day, directly on the official Notre-Dame website which has the reservation platform. A confirmation with a digital ticket will be sent by email.

Notre-Dame de Paris: almost one in two French people plan to visit the cathedral after its reopening
However, everyone expects a saturation of the service due to the very strong wait for the reopening of the cathedral. According to a study by the Verian group for The Cross in partnership with France Info and carried out with 1,000 people, one in two French people (47%) plans to go there. Not to mention the tourists who had made the monument one of the most visited in France before the fire. The Archbishop of Paris Laurent Ulrich estimated last Wednesday that « 15 million visitors » are expected « every year ». The cathedral can accommodate up to « 3 000 people at the same time »according to the diocese.
The cathedral will be open to the public from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, December 8. A mass will be given at 6:30 p.m. To attend, reservation is required. Next week, the public will be able to visit Notre-Dame from Monday to Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15. Access is still possible for visitors who do not have tickets but the queues are expected to be long. During this first week, two masses will be given each day, at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A reservation is required for all evening masses, except Thursday, but it remains strongly recommended.
From December 16, the cathedral will be open every day from 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Three masses will take place at 8 a.m. (8:30 a.m. Saturday), 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. daily and four on Sunday.
The plan for a paid entry
If for the moment there is no question of entry fees, the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati wishes to make tourists pay for entries, with a higher rate for « visitors from outside the EU »despite opposition from the diocese. She believes that« with just 5 euros per visitor, we would collect 75 million euros per year. Thus, Notre-Dame de Paris would save all the churches of Paris and France. »
December 7 will mark the first day of festivities for the reopening of the cathedral, including a live television broadcast, tributes and concerts by Clara Luciani, Vianney, international classical stars such as the Chinese pianist Lang Lang and the DJ French Michael Canitrot.
