Émilie Dequenne is currently in a particularly difficult fight against the disease. The actress confided on TF1 on Sunday evening that she was fighting an increasingly aggressive cancer, which will mean that she will “not live as long as expected”.
The 43-year-old Belgian revealed in October 2023 that she had a rare cancer, diagnosed two months earlier, and which has kept her away from film sets ever since.
“It’s not progressing well”
“It turns out that, unfortunately, things are not progressing well. […] Here I am again going for the chemo that I went through a little over a year ago,” she declared during an interview on the show 7 à 8.
“Deep down, I know I won't live as long as I expected. […] I'm only 43 years old. I have always dreamed of living to be at least 80 years old and falling asleep permanently in my sleep. That’s what I’m asking.” “I trust medicine. […] I hope that research for my cancer will continue to advance,” explained the actress.
Cancer affecting the adrenal gland
His cancer is an adrenocorticoma, a malignant tumor of the adrenal gland, for which the prognosis is all the more bleak as the tumor is large.
Émilie Dequenne was revealed for her first role in Rosettaby the Dardenne brothers, which won her the Best Actress Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999.
