Cleveland Cavilliers laughed in the Eastern Conference between first and second place.
Cleveland beat the Boston Celtics 115-111 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio on the 2nd (Korea Standard Time).
With this victory, he escaped two consecutive losses and recorded 18 wins and three losses. Boston, which is in second place, is 16 wins and 4 losses.
In the first half, home team Cleveland took the lead. At one point in the second quarter, the team ran to 11 points. Darius Garland led the attack with 15 points in the first half alone. On the bench, George Sien scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, to lift the mood.
Boston brought the mood in the third quarter. In the third quarter alone, they led 35-21. The team overwhelmed Cleveland, which had a field goal success rate of 52.2% (12/23) and a 3-point shooting success rate of 53.8% (7/13), with only 47.4% (9/19) and 50% (3/6), respectively.
Jason Tatum scored a total of 17 points, including all three 3-pointers in the third quarter alone.
Cleveland didn’t back down helplessly either. As the main players began to work together again on the court in the fourth quarter, their performance was revived and the gap was narrowed.
The hero of the day that came to mind was Donovan Mitchell. After scoring only 15 points until the third quarter, he began to score in the fourth quarter.
He hit a 3-pointer with 3:10 left in the fourth quarter, trailing 95-97, two points behind. In the attack that followed after the operation time, he hit three-point shots in a row to tie the score 101-101 with 1:37 left in the fourth quarter. In the next attack, he attempted to break through directly and succeeded in a layup to take the 103-101 turnaround.
With 34 seconds left, Cleveland took the lead 105-101 with Evan Mobley’s dunk.
Boston made it 107-106 with 17.9 seconds left when Peyton Pritchard made a 3-pointer.
Since then, both teams have been involved in foul operations. Both teams maintained a tense situation by not missing free throws.
The tension continued until 5.7 seconds left. The Boston bench prepared for the final attack, calling for the saved operation time.
Pritchard, who got a free throw with five seconds left, made a successful first pitch and then intentionally hit the second pitch on the backboard to make a three-point play. However, in the process, he made a fatal mistake of giving up the right to attack by committing a lane violation. It was a moment when the match was virtually decided.
For Cleveland, Mitchell scored 35 points and seven rebounds, and Garland scored 22 points and eight assists. Mobley and Jarrett Allen had 10 rebounds side by side.
For Boston, it was a day that reminded me of the absence of Jaylen Brown and Derek White. Tatum scored 33 points, Kristaps Porzingis scored 21, Sam Hauser scored 13, and Pritchard scored 24.
