I will go and sleep at your place : Misadventures for Antoine de Maximy but good times for the viewers?
In more than 20 years of traveling across the globe, Antoine de Maximy has experienced many hardships. And this is not necessarily negative for viewers. On the contrary. “When it doesn’t go as planned, the public loves it even more”he explained to our colleagues at Tele-Leisure. Among his delicate memories, an episode in Malta where he found no accommodation for the night: “Not only did I not sleep at anyone's house, but I didn't stay more than an hour and a half at anyone's house. However, the show wasn't boring at all!” Certain mishaps, more comical, remain engraved in the memories of spectators. Like this sequence in South Korea where, after consuming alcohol and tasting unknown local plants, the adventurer found himself in the middle of a blackout.
I will go and sleep at your place : The hassle of filming in Ivory Coast
And then, there is of course the very memorable episode filmed in Ivory Coast. An adventure that ended unexpectedly: a medical repatriation to France, following a fracture of the fibula. “I slipped, got stuck and it broke. After thinking about it, I ended up calling the emergency services,” he told Current Woman. But this incident was not the only notable moment of the trip. During a simple lunch in a local restaurant, the host found himself confronted with a particularly aggressive customer. “I was filming my meals, as usual, and not him. But he came back to bother me,” explained Antoine de Maximy. The man, visibly angry for personal reasons, tried to force him out of the restaurant. Faced with this tense situation, he then applied his usual method: remaining impassive. “I keep calm because that’s how things deescalate.” Ultimately, the altercation was resolved without violence, proof of the host's legendary composure.
