“An exceptional athlete”, “a source of inspiration”… Since the announcement of the death of Amandine Chazot, 33, tributes have been pouring in. The young woman, mother, resident of Combrit (Finistère), suffered from cancer.

The young woman had to her credit an impressive track record in her flagship discipline: stand-up paddle. She was twice world vice-champion in 2017 and 2019 and six times French champion. At the same time, the high-level sportswoman studied medicine and became a radiologist at hospital.

In the Pays Bigouden where she had lived for several years, she was a member of the Pagaies-club of Pont-l'Abbé, of which she was one of the leading figures. On social networks, the association expressed its sadness: “You motivated us to create our club, you inspired the young people of Pays Bigouden. For all this and much more… Thank you! ». The Breton surfing league also welcomed Amandine Chazot “an exceptional athlete and a source of inspiration for our entire community”.

“A cancer that cannot be cured”

Amandine Chazot had been suffering from cancer for several years. She spoke in January 2024 to discuss her illness: “Since the summer of 2021, I have been in treatment for advanced stage cancer, which cannot be cured and which is resistant to different treatments. » A fighter, she never gave up her passion, investing in foiling.

“Mersion with the ocean”

On June 7, 2024, she was one of the Olympic Flame torchbearers at La Torche. When we met her a few days later, she said “fight intensely” the disease: “My best therapy remains sport. Alone on the water, I feel a sort of fusion with the ocean, it's like a meditation. I try to fully enjoy every moment. »
