Emmanuel Macron, a walking president for the reopening of Notre-Dame

IIt will be a “long stroll”, we warned at the Élysée. The “stroll” at the end of the Notre-Dame de construction site on November 29 orchestrated for Emmanuel Macron will therefore belatedly serve as a reminder that in 2016 he had created a political movement entitled En marche!.

The movement hardly works anymore, but it continues to march in the shadow of great monuments and great men. Visits by presidents for the inauguration of French museums have not been rare: Giscard for the Center Pompidou in 1977, François Mitterrand in 1986 for the Musée d'Orsay, Jacques Chirac in 2006 for the Musée du Quai Branly… He These were openings, not reopenings.
