Letters sent to a school in Saône-et- ultimately did not contain traces of plague

A laboratory was contacted to carry out additional analyses. After the reception in a training establishment in Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-) of several envelopes containing a white powder, the doubt is lifted, the prefecture indicated this Thursday: the letters did not contain the plague, and “ To date, there is no longer any biological risk,” state services reassure.

The alert was taken very seriously on Wednesday. “Several envelopes from abroad were received by the Colint School training center,” the prefecture announced on its website. A white powder was present in one of these envelopes. She was analyzed and tested positive for the plague. » Six employees, who were present when the letters were opened, had been hospitalized.

“No symptoms have been reported to date” by people who were exposed to the mail, the prefecture said on Wednesday, without specifying when the envelopes were received. The “victims” were, however, transferred and then placed under medical surveillance at the university hospital center (CHU) of Chalon-sur-Saône in a nuclear radiological biological and chemical structure (NRBC).

Early this Thursday morning, the prefecture finally announced that “the additional analysis, carried out by the laboratory of the -Rousse hospital in , made it possible to remove the doubt and confirm a negative result for the plague. »

The six people hospitalized have been “deconfined”, it is specified and “to date, there is no longer any biological risk. »

Located in the La Sucrerie district, the Colint School training center is a private school which teaches digital professions and which has around thirty students.
