After the expulsion of the Polisario, the Foreign Minister of Panama arrives in Morocco to announce support for the Moroccan Sahara

Rue20 website learned that immediately after the historic decision of the Republic of Panama to expel the Polisario representation from its territory, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Javier Eduardo, arrived in Morocco to hold a meeting today, Wednesday, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

It is expected that the two sides will hold discussions in Rabat aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as issues of common interest.

Today, Panama’s Foreign Minister is expected to clearly announce his country’s support for the Moroccan Sahara, especially after the expulsion of Polisario mercenaries from Panamanian territory.

It is noteworthy that His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a cable of thanks to the President of the Republic of Panama, José Raul Molino Quintero, following the decision taken by his country regarding the Kingdom’s first national issue.

In this context, the Republic of Panama decided, last Thursday, to suspend its diplomatic relations with the separatist “Polisario” Front.

The Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement, that “in accordance with the requirements of international law, the government of Panama has decided, as of today (Thursday), to suspend diplomatic relations” with the fictitious “Sahrawi Republic.”

The same source added, “The Republic of Panama, which gives priority to the national interest and remains faithful to the basic principles of its foreign policy, reaffirms its conviction in the goals and values ​​that guide multilateral action, and renews its will to continue supporting the efforts of the Secretary-General and the international community, within the framework of the United Nations, in order to reach To a peaceful, just, lasting solution acceptable to the parties concerned with the Sahara issue.

The communication concluded that the Republic of Panama “reaffirms its commitment to multilateral dialogue and cooperation, within the framework of a constructive foreign policy aimed at strengthening international peace and security.”
