He still received an egg on his left arm upon his arrival. “They do this to make the jacket fall”Jordan Bardella then reacted by removing his stained coat, provoking laughter and applause from some 300 people who came to welcome him at Sainte-Catherine de Vesoul.
The egg? A detail quickly brushed aside. The Vésuliens who are hoping, in number, for a dedication of the autobiographical book by Jordan Bardella? Proof that the National Rally (RN) is today expected and welcome at the biggest agricultural fair in Haute-Saône.

In a flagship department of the RN, Sainte-Catherine was an event not to be missed for Jordan Bardella, moreover in a context of agricultural crisis.
I am coming back to Vesoul because we continued to make progress during the last legislative elections. I come alongside our parliamentarians, who here defend the ideas of the National Rally. I know that this is a land where we are expected.

In 2022, the department was one of the first to send far-right deputies to the National Assembly. Two of the eight French RN deputies were then from Haut-Saône.
Given the impressive progress of the party throughout France during the early legislative elections, the RN logically confirmed its local roots in 2024. Today, Haute-Saône is one of the seven French departments to be represented only by RN deputies.
Marine Le Pen had already attended the event in 2021, wanting to meet “the France of the forgotten”. An expression which at the time made the mayor of Vesoul, Alain Chrétien, jump.
Jordan Bardella already came last year. And this year, the mayor of Vesoul said to himself “very comfortable” with the arrival of political figures in his city.
Sainte-Catherine belongs to everyone. Everyone can support farmers.

The link between agriculture and the right
The councilor was also pleased to welcome his “ami” et party president Edouard Philippe at the 2024 edition of the Vésulienne fair. Even if, according to him, “Saint Catherine’s Day must above all remain a celebration”the event was also an opportunity to heal the historical link between the agricultural population and the traditional right.
If farmers did not escape the navy blue wave of the last legislative elections, the profession voted for the presidential party and the Republicans in proportions higher than the national average.
