In order to keep populations safe from ongoing episodes of violent winds, several emergency measures have been deployed throughout the Metropolis.
Due to the current episodes of violent winds, the territory of the metropolis of Lyon has been placed on orange alert until at least 6 p.m. this evening. In order to secure the populations, several immediate emergency measures were deployed in agreement with the Rhône prefecture.
Following several tree falls throughout the metropolis, certain roads are undergoing route changes. Among the affected routes, the RD135 south of Lyon, where the exit is now at Grigny due to a tree on the road and a marking problem, near the Parilly park.
While residents of the 1st arrondissement are called to be vigilant, following numerous roof elements threatening to collapse, barriers have been put in place to secure the premises. In the north-central part of Lyon, numerous markings and barriers are in progress, after the fall of several trees.
Recycling centers and closed parks
Given the current conditions, the Métropole de Lyon has decided to close all its recycling centers until this evening, a reopening is planned tomorrow if weather conditions permit. Many city parks have also closed their doors for the day, such as Parilly and Lacroix-Laval parks now closed to the public.
Some colleges impacted
Some colleges are also impacted by violent winds, as is the case for the Tourette college (1st district), Lamartine college in Villeurbanne, Léonard de Vinci in Chassieu, or the Olivier de Serres college in Meyzieu. The reported problems are now being managed by the Metropolis' maintenance teams.
