The prosecution is demanding 20 years in prison against Dominique Pelicot this Monday, November 25, the maximum sentence. He was on trial for drugging, raping and having his wife raped by dozens of men recruited on the Internet.
Dominique Pelicot's lawyer, Me Béatrice Zavarro, reacted to the prosecution's requisitions, assured that her client was “dejected”, at the microphone of BFMTV, before the criminal court of Vaucluse, in Avignon.
“I believe that it is never very easy for a man to be told that we are demanding a 20-year prison sentence against him,” said the lawyer.
“We inevitably knew that the requisitions would be the maximum penalty incurred,” he nevertheless clarified.
This Monday, November 25, the public prosecutor requested the maximum sentence, i.e. 20 years of criminal imprisonment, against Dominique Pelicot for his “despicable actions”, that is to say having, for a decade, drugged, raped and had his wife raped. wife Gisèle Pelicot by dozens of men recruited on the Internet.
“No surprise”
“No surprise on the motivations of these requisitions which suggest that Dominique Pelicot remains the great organizer of all this, remains the common denominator, remains the essential element of this prevention”, indicates the lawyer.
“There are a few more surprises on the motivations of the requisitions where I have the impression that the requisitions of the prosecution decide to move away a little bit from the personality of Dominique Pelicot which, in my opinion, can explain certain things”, judges Me Béatrice Zavarro.
Dominique Pelicot, 71, has never hidden his responsibility. In mid-September, he described himself as a “rapist” during the trial. “I am guilty of what I did (…) I ruined everything, I lost everything. I have to pay,” he told the court.
