Well aware of the launch problems of STALKER 2, its studio GSC Game World comes back to us with great promises, including a major patch very soon.
Released on November 20 on PC, Xbox Series and Game Pass after incredible development, STALKER 2 seems well on its way to being a big hit. Its launch, however, is not without radioactive side effects, with many deploring numerous bugs and technical problems. GSC Game World had promised to react quickly with major fixes, and intends to keep its commitments. The Ukrainian studio has announced its plans in particular via the game's Steam page.
Anomaly mitigation in progress for STALKER 2
14 years after its initial announcement and countless pitfalls, the true miracle that is STALKER 2 is finally officially released. If the title has already exceeded one million sales in just two days, its launch was visibly painful for many players. More or less annoying bugs, significant performance problems, the Zone is particularly unstable for many stalkers.
The day after its release, GSC Game World promised to work hard to quickly correct what could be corrected. The Ukrainian studio confirms it again: the next STALKER 2 update will be very large-scale. It intends to address numerous problems reported repeatedly in its current version, as follows:
- Memory allocation problems and failures (PC)
- Main quest progression fixes (blocking bugs)
- Balancing and gameplay adjustments (trader prices and NPC behavior)
- Cutscene fixes (facial animations and cutting)
- “Softlock” fixes (menu freeze)
- UI improvements (quest notifications, interaction prompts)
GSC Game World then plans to deploy another big patch on STALKER 2, focusing on the artificial intelligence of NPCs/enemies. Before the game's launch, the studio promised realistic AI that would give players a hard time. This is not yet perfectly the case currently, but it should therefore improve soon. “We want to assure you once again that we will do our best to constantly improve your experience on STALKER 2. We are truly grateful for your feedback and suggestions for improvements,” concludes GSC Game World. Let us therefore hope that the Zone will prove to be more welcoming and less riddled with “exceptions” in the future.
