Racing overwhelmed without its internationals
Deprived of the ball, clumsy, Racing 92, without its internationals Nolan Le Garrec, Gaël Fickou, Josua Tuisova, Will Rowlands and Owen Farrell (injured), suffered from the start and conceded a first try (6th) by Lester Etien, without having touched the slightest ball. The two teams were then tied, Racing defending as best they could but, at the half-hour mark, the Parisians accelerated to display their newfound offensive qualities and scored three times in ten minutes: Lester Etien again (32nd), after a superb double between Louis Carbonel and Romain Briatte; Jo Marchant then (39th), who had just replaced Etien (suspected concussion), and who was going to conclude an action marked by a one-two between Briatte (again!) and Halaifonua; and less than two minutes later, Jérémy Ward was at the conclusion of a superb collective session by the Parisians, started by a ride from Brad Weber (40th + 1) to lead 26-3 at half-time.
