Anderlecht has taken the beating against KAA Gent. Under the impetus of Kasper Dolberg, good for two nice goals and an equally nice assist, the purple and white were flashy. Even before half time, the winner was decisively defeated, which the visitors also lost to themselves. With shaky defense and two red cards, Ghent never gave themselves a chance in the Lotto Park. You won’t hear Anderlecht complaining with 9 out of 9 in the league.
Anderlecht – KAA Gent in a nutshell:
-
Key moment
Shortly before half time it is already time to book for KAA Gent. With a clever dribbling action, Edozie Torunarigha received his second yellow card and Dolberg then rammed the free kick into the goal: 3-0. Ghent hangs on the ropes and also receives some heavy blows after the break.
-
Man of the match
Two beautiful goals and a fine assist. Kasper Dolberg was the conductor of a gala evening in the Lotto Park. The Dane now has 10 competition goals. The Danish striker made 7 of these in his last three games.
-
Remarkable
4-0 against Kortrijk, 5-0 against Cercle Brugge and 6-0 against Ghent. For the third match in a row, Anderlecht wins by 4 goals or more. It has been since the era under coach John Van den Brom in 2013 that the Purple & White managed to do that again.
Anderlecht finishes the job before half time
A 3-0 lead and one more man. At half-time, Anderlecht already knew that the loot had been won. KAA Gent was left defeated and frustrated after some questionable refereeing decisions.
The visitors started the match best, but Anderlecht had luck on their side. After 20 minutes, Coosemans made an excellent save from a shot by Brown and immediately afterwards his colleague on the other side was left without a chance on a deflected shot by Rits: 1-0.
Delorge came very close to the quick equalizer with a clever place ball, but once again Coosemans kept Anderlecht afloat.
With peace in sight, things went completely wrong for Ghent. Stroeykens found the detached Dolberg in the box and he did not opt for the shot, but for a smart pass towards the goal. Edozie was able to easily tap in from close range.
Things got even worse for the visitors in extra time. Shortly after a pulling error by Coosemans on Dean went unpunished, Torunarigha received a questionable second yellow card after a clever dribbling action by Edozie.
Ghent’s frustration became even greater when Dolberg showed his unadulterated class on the subsequent free kick. With a hard blast he rammed the 3-0 past the hopeless Roef. The Lotto Park went into halftime dancing.

Ghent is going completely under
In an unnecessary second half, a hungry and unleashed Anderlecht continued to hunt for more goals. Ghent escaped when Edozie came close to a second goal twice, but in the final quarter the miserable evening became even more annoying for Wouter Vrancken’s team.
Samoise kicked Leoni and after VAR intervention he was also excluded. Barely recovered from that new blow, star Dolberg stuck the knife a little deeper into the Ghent wound. He cleverly plucked Foket’s cross out of the air and rammed the 4-0 into the top corner.
In a match in which almost everything went wrong for Ghent, the returning Kums also shared the blows. He unfortunately headed the ball into Araujo at the back and the 5-0 rolled into the goal agonizingly slowly.
The forfeit score even became a tennis score when Amuzu also scored his goal. After a nice one-two with Leoni, he also defeated Roef.
Anderlecht thus takes its third league victory in a row, for the third time also with large numbers. Ghent has to lick its wounds.

Reactions from the Anderlecht camp:
- Mats Rits: “The match was in balance for the first 20 minutes. After the 1-0, we increased our intensity, which was necessary. We were more aggressive and created more. We pushed well to make it 3-0 before half time. The red card obviously helped with that. It’s nice that everyone was able to score their goal and that the crowd enjoyed a great evening, and I’m very happy about that. I already have played with a lot of strikers, but the way he kicks the ball is phenomenal. It’s a lot of power, combined with technique and finesse. Also important to do this after the international break have often dropped points there. It is an important moment in the competition to be at the front.”
- Colin Coosemans: “It’s great that we can achieve this result in a top match. In the first twenty minutes, Ghent was certainly our equal. They came out well a few times. Then the penny falls to our side with the 1-0, also because of that red card, it became easier. Dean? I held it for a tenth of a second, because I lost my balance. The best goal? That free kick from Dolberg done.”
- David Hubert (coach Anderlecht): “I wasn’t really satisfied with our first 20 minutes. The pace wasn’t high enough, the intensity and aggressiveness were also too low. Fortunately, that first goal came and after that we raised our level a lot. The moment with Coosemans and Dean That was a choice that Colin made. He perhaps postponed his decision a little too long and took too much risk accompanied by bad moments, It’s a matter of getting that out. Is Dolberg in the spotlight? I think he can do even better. But with a striker who scores so easily , as a trainer you are of course very happy.”
End
Big party in the Lotto Park. Anderlecht records its third league victory in a row, the third victory also by large margins. After 4-0 against Kortrijk and 5-0 against Cercle, the purple and white now take a 6-0 victory against Ghent. Kasper Dolberg was the star for the Purple & White with two goals and an assist. At Ghent, both Torunarigha and Samoise were excluded.
Amuzu makes it 6-0!
There’s already the 6-0! Amuzu also scores his goal. After a nice one-two with Leoni, Amuzu gets the ball past Kums with some luck and he also catches Roef with a shot in the far corner.
Owngoal provides a fixed score
Talk about an unfortunate return. On a cross from Dreyer, Kums unfortunately heads the ball into Araujo and he sees the ball roll painfully slowly into the goal. 5-0, Ghent is given a forfeit score here.
Applause for Dolberg
What a match from Dolberg. An exchange of applause is therefore inevitable. The Anderlecht supporters go crazy for their Danish class player. Vazquez is his replacement.
Dolberg with his second!
Could things get worse for Ghent? Yes. Dolberg cleverly plucks a fine cross from Foket out of the air and then slams the ball hard into the goal again, perfectly into the top corner. 4-0 for Anderlecht.
Ghent must empty the chalice to the bottom. After watching the images, D’Hondt takes out his red card. Samoise is excluded for kicking the ball.
Also red for Samoise?
Samoise gets into trouble with Leoni. He pushes him into the dug-out of Anderlecht and makes a counter-kick movement. Ref D’Hondt has to look at the monitor. Is Samoise also excluded?
Yellow for Samoise
Samoise is trumped by Amuzu and can only block him incorrectly. He will receive a logical yellow card.
