La Liga action awaits us as Real Madrid lock horns against 14th placed Leganes away from home.
Aurelien Tchouaméni is expected to return for the next match against Liverpool, while Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo are hoping to make a swift recovery as well.
Thibaut Courtois returns and will be back in goal, along with youngster Diego Aguado being named as the sixth defender in the squad.
Here is how Real Madrid can lineup for the clash against Leganes.
GK: Thibaut Courtois
The Belgian making a start between the sticks is a no-brainer, with him having last played in that outstanding victory against Borussia Dortmund. Would look to keep his 5th cleansheet of the season.
Perhaps the best option in the squad to start in this position – despite the Uruguayan not enjoying playing in this position – having previously played here during Zinedine Zidane’s time at the club. Hopefully the test pays off as Ancelotti expects it too as there are slender options on the bench.
His display against Osasuna was a real boost for the Merengues who needed some inspiration at the back. Recorded an assist and all of a sudden, seems to be an able solution to their defensive woes.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger
Everyone would hope the German is fully fit for the rest of the season since he is now the senior most player in the backline. Can prove to be the mentor Asencio needs and the leader Real Madrid want at the back.
Although he has his vulnerabilities, the Spaniard has proven that his attacking capabilities are much better off than Ferland Mendy. Hopefully, he puts in a better defensive shift as well.
CM: Edward Camavinga
A much-needed option in midfield, especially with Tchouameni and Fede’s absence. The Frenchman would be hopeful of continuing his purple patch.
CM: Luka Modric
The veteran midfielder also enjoyed a successful break, with Croatia winning and drawing their matches and Modric playing an integral part in both those cases. His creativeness and ability to make line-making passes is exactly what the Mererngues need.
CM: Jude Bellingham
Hopefully the Englishman plays at his natural positions since he has been in supreme form lately and will look to continue it in a Madrid jersey. At just 21, he is so important that his name must go on the game sheet first.
RW: Brahim Diaz
Having the time of his life is the Moroccon, as he netted five times and hopefully extends his good run and at least make this position his until Rodrygo’s return.
The break may have just given him a good chance to reenergise himself and get his focus back since Real Madrid need “Mbappe the goal scorer” more than a false nine who’s running in the midfield.
Again, was unable to make an impact with Brazil during the break but now he returns to white jersey of Madrid, having scored a hattrick against Osasuna. It will be interesting to see how he gels with Brahim Díaz up front.
