Less than 24 hours before the long-awaited royal battle between Modou Lo, the “King of Arenas” and Siteu, the formidable Tarkinda, tensions are at their height. The face-to-face between these two giants of Senegalese wrestling, planned by Jaambar Production, arouses all passions a few hours before the event. A real war of nerves which unleashed the crowds and shook the districts of Dakar, notably at the Sandaga market, where the opinions of the Senegalese on this duel are divided.
Modou Lo, with his impressive track record and worldwide fame, remains the favorite of many fans. The wrestler, who embodies power and experience, has proven himself many times. His victories against renowned wrestlers, his unique wrestling style and his unwavering determination earned him the honorary title of “King of the Arena”. At the Sandaga market, several voices are raised to affirm that Modou Lo is the man for the job. “He is stronger, more experienced. This fight is just a formality for him,” declares a young man, certainty in his eyes. Another added: “Modou Lo is a champion, he is not going to miss this chance. Siteu is not up to him.”
But alongside Modou Lo’s supporters, many other Senegalese ardently support Siteu, the young wrestler nicknamed “Tarkinda”. Less experienced but just as determined, Siteu is a serious contender for victory. His refined technique and impressive courage are assets that worry Modou Lo’s supporters. “Siteu is a resourceful fighter. He is fast and his movements are unpredictable. Modou Lo will have difficulty keeping up with him,” assures a second-hand seller at the market. Still others point out that the young wrestler could well create a surprise, as has already happened in the history of Senegalese wrestling.
