Technivorm Moccamaster KBT Coffee Maker

This iconic design consistently ranked first in our taste tests. It’s a reliable 40-ounce capacity workhorse that brews a nuanced, flavorful pot. It comes with an insulated carafe and a unique filter basket switch that adjusts steep time.

Other things to know: Lacks extra features of our other picks, like timers or complex settings, but coffee connoisseurs will appreciate the taste. Pricey, but much longer warranty (five years) and Moccamaster’s reputation for longevity make it a worthwhile investment.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffee Maker

Make mornings better with this relatively inexpensive maker that reliably brews good coffee. It has some of the most useful features of all the cheap coffee makers we tested, including a self-clean function and user control of the hot plate’s holding temperature.

Other things to know: The water tank was the hardest to fill in our tests, with measurements that are nearly impossible to read. Three-year warranty, the longest of any model we tested. Price reflects in cart.

Nespresso VertuoPlus

If convenience and caffeine are your greatest concerns when it comes to your morning coffee, the Nespresso VertuoPlus is the perfect machine. With an automatic lid and single-button operation, it’s effortlessly easy to use, and can brew espressos, 5-ounce gran lungos, and standard 8-ounce cups of coffee.

Other things to know: Mugs are unstable on drip tray. We didn’t love the coffee, but it was still a big step up from Keurig’s. Only uses Vertuo pods, which cost more than Original pods. On sale in gray.

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro

This smart oven performs just as well as an air fryer as it does a toaster oven, and offers specific settings for dehydrating, proofing, and slow cooking. In our tests, it crisped-up foods faster than traditional toaster ovens. It also has a generous two-rack capacity and offers multiple fan speeds.

Other things to know: Even on sale, notably more expensive than our other picks. “Super convection” fan speed is incredibly loud. Didn’t toast bread quite as evenly as other picks. We’d prefer a pizza stone over the included nonstick pizza pan. Matches the lowest price we’ve seen.

GIR Mini Flip Silicone Spatula

This silicone-coated spatula is a must if you use nonstick cookware, because it won’t scratch your pan. The angled, tapered edge easily slips under brittle cookies and fried eggs without mangling them. It’s simple to clean, with no grooves that can trap food.

Other things to know: Fiberglass core with a seamless silicone exterior. Not as sharp or dexterous as metal spatulas. Deal price is available on black, red, and white colors.

Thermapen ONE Thermometer

Get ready for Turkey Day with the fastest and most accurate instant-read model we’ve tested. It’s got a bright backlit rotating screen and wide temperature range, plus, it’s waterproof, buttonless, and completely automatic.

Other things to know: Retail price has recently gone up. Few recipes demand instant, to-the-degree accuracy. The switch to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit is inconveniently located inside the battery compartment. Deal available in red, green, white, and a handful of other colors. Shipping is free.

Nutribullet Full Size Blender

We’re impressed with both the performance and the price of this blender. It emulsified mayonnaise on the first try in our tests.

Other things to know: Failed our nut butter test, but we have yet to find a $100 blender that can pass it. We found the KitchenAid K150 (our budget pick) to be a much more elegant machine—in both performance and looks. Free Kohl’s account required; use codes LETSGO20 and 10HOME.

KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer (Refurbished)

Quiet and uncomplicated, this is the absolute best stand mixer you can get for its performance, versatility, and price—which is why it’s been our favorite since 2013. Featuring 10 speeds, this buy-it-for-life kitchen workhorse is clearly built to last and deftly mixes without straining.

Other things to know: One of the fastest first speeds of all mixers we tested and no ½ speed. Comes with 5-quart stainless steel mixing bowl, flat beater, dough hook, and six-wire whip. Only available in black at Walmart. One-year warranty at Walmart; two-year Allstate warranty via eBay.

Philips 3000 Series Air Fryer L HD9252/91

This air fryer cooks food faster and more evenly than any other we’ve tested in its price range. The basket is easy to insert, remove, and clean, and the whole thing maintains a small footprint on the countertop.

Other things to know: Just under 3-quart capacity. Touchscreen is cluttered with unhelpful preset programs. Basket is heavy and poorly balanced. Two-year warranty.
