Barça is at a standstill in La Liga. Beaten by Real Sociedad on the last day, FC Barcelona was neutralized on Saturday evening on the pitch of Celta Vigo (2-2, 14th day), conceding two goals in the last five minutes. A completely failed end to the match which could allow Real to retrace their steps.
It was not an easy task, far from it, but FC Barcelona long believed they had a precious victory in Galicia on Saturday evening. Far from the fitness walks that have made Barça famous with Flick this season, the Catalan collective has often been heckled on the Celta pitch. Deprived for the second time in a row of Yamal, the German technician decided to align Raphinha on the right side and Olmo on the left, with of course a lot of mobility. And it was the first of the two who launched the debates.
On a long opening from Koundé, Raphinha took advantage of a poor assessment by Mingueza to go deep, before dribbling past the former Barcelona player again and scoring with a powerful shot on the ground (0-1, 15th). The former Rennais, author of his eighth goal in La Liga (it is already his record in a season at Barça), could have scored a double in the second half, and perhaps assured victory for his team, but his right shot in the area was pushed back by the post (77th). The score was then 2-0 since the Brazilian had in the meantime served Lewandowski, author of his fifteenth goal in the championship with a quiet flat foot (0-2, 61st).
Koundé's gift
A second goal which was not enough for the Catalans, therefore, while goalkeeper Pena had already been decisive three times during the meeting, ahead of Moriba (20th), Gonzalez (64th) and Alvarez (66th). The last two cities were also able to take their revenge on the last Barcelona rampart during a crazy end to the match which saw Barça lose Casado, logically excluded for a second yellow card (82nd). Gonzalez then reduced the gap almost immediately, taking advantage of a gift falling from the sky from Koundé (1-2, 84th), Alvarez equalizing after a balancing act in the area (2-2 , 86th).
In the standings, this second match without a victory does not endanger Barça's leading position, still five points ahead of Atlético de Madrid (2nd) and seven ahead of Real Madrid (3rd). At least not for the moment, since the Merengue club has two fewer matches, starting with Sunday's on the Leganés meadow. There was certainly a better way to prepare for the reception of Brest on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
