It's a decision that goes badly. The end of cows in the show Intervilles annoys part of France, particularly in the South-West. “They will deprive themselves of the best. Cows are the only thing that cannot be calculated by man. It's unpredictable and spectacular. Too bad for them”says Teddy Labat, manager of a family farm which supplied the famous Intervilles cows to Le Point. Nagui, host and producer of the show, announced the return of this program but without the cows in an interview with the newspaper Ouest-France, published Saturday November 16. He wants to bring “modernity at this great fair with diversity, parity and respect for all beings”.
Except that his vision is not shared by everyone. After the announcement of this decision, several cities such as Dax, Mont-de-Marsan and Bayonne announced that they no longer wanted to participate in Intervilles. “Television wants to revive a cult show without taking responsibility for its substance at all. The cow is the constituent element, the salt of this entertainment”says Yves Ugalde, the deputy mayor for culture of Bayonne. For his part, the mayor of Dax assures that “Intervilles without cows, it’s not Intervilles.” According to the elected official, it is more than one « event » or a “any game show”.

Faced with criticism, Nagui maintains his position. “I have no doubt that Landes cows are happy in the wild”he explained on the set of C l’hebdo Friday, November 22. “I think there are plenty of people who play pool games in the summer without there necessarily being a cow in their pool. I don't think it's a cow's natural element to be in a swimming pool.”continues the man from the small screen. Nagui has long been known for his commitment to animal welfare. He declared himself to be vegetarian and supported several associations such as L214, PETA and the SPA.
