This will be his very first appearance on a match sheet at the highest level of French rugby. Aged 19 years and five months, Simon Daroque appears for the first time in his career in the group of Toulouse Stadium brought to play a Top 14 match. The current leader of the championship receives Perpignan this Saturday, November 23 at 4:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Ernest-Wallon stadium.
If he will take his place on the substitutes' bench at the kick-off of the matchthe player trained in Villefranche-de-Lauragais has a very good chance of playing his very first professional minutes in the jersey of the reigning French and European champion club.
He takes advantage of the absence of internationals
Generally playing as a scrum half, Simon Daroque will play the role of understudy for Paul Graou who will tackle the Stade Toulouse scrum at the start of this tenth day of the Top 14. But his versatility allows him to play in almost all positions in the back line.
His presence in the Stade Toulousain group against USAP is explained in particular by the absences ofAntoine Dupont et Naoto Saito who are competing in the Autumn Nations Cup this weekend with their national team. The first beat Argentina last night with the XV of France, while the second will face England this Sunday afternoon with Japan.
An already well-stocked track record
Simon Daroque started playing rugby at the age of five. He did all his classes within theLauragais Agreementthe rugby school which brings together the clubs of Villefranche-de-Lauragais, Caraman and Villenouvelle.
He then joined the youth center of FCV before joining Stade Toulousain in 2020. Since then, he has already built a very good track record with the red and black club by becoming French Crabos champion in 2022 and 2023Then French Espoirs champion in 2024. A final title in which he played a large part, playing 17 matches and scoring four tries during the season.
He is preparing for the Six Nations Tournament with France U20
The former Villefranche-de-Lauragais player has also experienced the joys of selection for the French team in the youth categories in recent years. In 2023, it was thus called up to France U18 as part of the 6 Nations festival.
This season, he appears this time in the list of 26 players who are selected to prepare with theFrench U20 team the Six Nations Tournament.
