Storm Caetano causes very numerous disturbances on the roads, the trains, in homes without electricity this Friday, November 22, 2024. The snow also blocked an Easyjet flight on the ground for hours which was to connect Basel-Mulhouse to Blagnac airport, near Toulouse, this Thursday. He never left Alsace. A woman from Toulouse and a woman from Castres tell France Bleu about their struggle.
A flight which was to leave around 5 p.m., passengers who left the plane around 1 a.m.
“The flight was scheduled to depart at 4:55 p.m. for an arrival at 6:30 p.m.,” explains Laure, originally from Castres (Tarn) who goes to Alsace every two weeks. We were told that we had to wait for four Easyjet employees. They arrived more than two hours late, but the weather had deteriorated. Because of the snow, we were stuck on the plane for hours.” The company offered some people to leave (without being able to be reimbursed).
Flora, from Toulouse, stayed hoping to be able to take off: “They had to de-ice the planes, then remove the snow from the runways. But ultimately, we couldn't leave. Around 1 a.m., we left the plane.” That's more than seven hours of waiting!
These two travelers are outraged by Easyjet's lack of consideration: “We were served Pringles and a glass of water, that's all, says Flora. Easyjet told us to go to the counter, but there was no one there, we received an email explaining that there were no more taxis and that if we took a hotel, it must not be too expensive“. Laure is indignant: “Families with children were on the plane!”
Finally, the two travelers carpooled to go to Strasbourg and will try to take a plane to Toulouse.
