Traffic conditions remain difficult on Friday November 22 on the roads of Ile-de-France due to icy conditions. In several departments, school transport has been suspended.
Traffic conditions remain difficult this Friday, November 22 on the roads of Île-de-France, due to snowfall the day before. The region remains placed on orange snow-ice alert by Météo-France until midday.
Black ice is notably the cause of an accident on the N104 between Saint-Michel-sur-Orge and Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne). Two light vehicles and three heavy goods vehicles were involved in this accident, specifies the Sytadin barometer. The latter identifies more than 145 km of traffic jams on the Ile-de-France roads shortly before 8 a.m., a figure slightly higher than the usual average.
On the N118, vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes are prohibited from driving until midday. A ban which also applies to vehicles transporting dangerous materials.
The Paris police headquarters indicated Thursday that the maximum speed has been reduced by 20 km/h for all vehicles on “structuring axes” in Île-de-France.
Public transport disrupted
In public transport, traffic is also disrupted on certain lines. Île-de-France Mobilités and the RATP indicate that traffic is disrupted on the entire T9 tramway “due to bad weather”.
Same thing on the RER C line, where the disruption concerns the section between Brétigny and Dourdan. On the RER D, traffic is even interrupted between Juvisy and Malesherbes vie Ris-Orangis. Normal traffic is not expected to resume before 9:30 a.m.
Several Transilien lines are also disrupted due to weather conditions: on the entire H line, on the section of line J between Vernon-Giverny and Saint-Lazare, but also on line N between Dreux and Montparnasse and on line P between Coulommiers and Gare de l’Est.
On line R, traffic is interrupted between Montereau and Melun via Héricy and will resume around 9 a.m. Lines L and U are disrupted due to a technical incident.
School transport suspended
As for school transport, buses will not be running this Friday on the roads of Yvelines and Esssonne.
According to Île-de-France Mobilités, school transport is also suspended in Seine-et-Marne, where the roads are locally very icy this Friday morning.
The Val-d'Oise prefecture indicated late Thursday afternoon that schools remained open this Friday, but school transport is suspended.
