The heavy snowfall that hit Franche-Comté this Thursday from midday led to very serious disruptions overnight. Main sector affected: the Pays de Montbéliard, where a layer locally up to 20 cm thick covered the traffic lanes.
These were of course regularly cleared of snow and sanded, which did not prevent certain heavy goods vehicles from remaining stuck on the A36 motorway, forcing a significant number of road wrecks, near Montbéliard, to spend part of at night completely stopped on this busy route.
The A36 motorway is still blocked at this time in the Belfort – Montbéliard direction, with many shipwreck victims stranded.
These difficult conditions forced the prefect of Doubs, Rémi Bastille, to make several decisions this Friday at dawn. Thus, in view of the latest forecasts from Météo France announcing new frosts (- 4°) this Friday in the morning and traffic conditions which may remain difficult on certain axes of the network, the prefect has decided to issue an order to suspend school transport from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. today, in the Pays de Montbéliard urban area.
At the same time as this measure, the prefecture of the Eastern defense and security zone has decided to prohibit, by zonal decree, the circulation of heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on the A36 motorway in both directions between Mulhouse (68 ) and Saint-Vit (25) until 10:00 a.m. today. Vehicles affected by the traffic ban measures will be intercepted and parked in storage areas.
