The Real Madrid player is back in the news because of his statements.
Brazilian players Raphinha and Vinicius Jr are experiencing completely different moments in their careers. While the FC Barcelona winger has become the new leader of the national team, receiving praise from historical figures in Brazil such as Romário for his solid performances on the field, Vinicius faces heavy criticism for his lack of effectiveness in the national team’s shirt. This has led to a growing number of voices preferring to trust players like Raphinha to lead the new Brazilian team rather than Vinicius.
This time, Real Madrid’s pointer is in the news because of comments made to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), in which he talks again about the issue of racism in Spain and how, thanks to their efforts, they managed to “put several people behind behind the bars” in recent months: “It is clear that racism is decreasing with the help of all the clubs and all the people who work hard to combat it. In the last three months, we have managed to incarcerate three or four individuals and make them pay for the crimes they committed.”

He believes this will help eradicate racism in football stadiums: “Even if someone is racist, they will be afraid to speak out on camera, which will lead to fewer people making any kind of racist gesture.” However, it is not true that anyone was arrested for this reason, as Sique Rodríguez noted on the program El Bar da Cadena SER this Thursday: “I share the feeling of Vinicius’ speech, but the deeper debate concerns what is happening to him. What he says, beyond the intention, is false because there are not three or four people arrested for this.”

Rodriguez advised Vinicius to be more careful when making such statements, as they can mislead society: “When you lead a delicate fight, you must measure your words because you are an example to others.” This situation led Sique Rodríguez’s team to compare how Raphinha and Vinicius are dealing with these critical moments in their careers. Among them, Jofre Mateu was one of the most critical of the Real Madrid player: “Raphinha turned his career around. Last year, he was a debated player, fighting to be a starter for the national team, and now he has earned his place through performance. I believe that Vinicius is poorly advised. He is becoming smaller and I think he will have a very complicated season ahead.”
From his perspective, the Real Madrid player should focus on football and leave controversies aside: “With the national team, he is not performing and continually seeks controversies that lead to paths unrelated to football. The worst that can happen to our shared fight against racism is that its spokesperson is this rude individual.” Meanwhile, Aday Benítez gave an example like Raphinha to show how things should be done: “He is demonstrating professionalism and Fair Play, proving that even in Brazil, you can outshine Vinicius.”

In fact, the analyst advised Vinicius to refrain from appearing in videos for a long time: “Vinicius should not appear in any more videos for a whole year and just play football. He doesn’t need to do anything else. I believe what he needs to do is play football and, fortunately, he plays well.”
