our 4 immersive reports as close as possible to the fighting in Ukraine

Lhe advance of Russian troops in Ukraine plunged into the cauldron of war a portion of Donbass which had been more or less spared. This rapid advance illustrates the Kremlin's intention to seize as much territory as possible before a possible armistice freezes the front. Lacking men and equipment, the Ukrainians are unable to stop the Russian steamroller which destroys everything in its path. They slowed down their course as best they could, inflicting colossal losses on the Russians, but without decisive support from the Europeans, they risked being crushed.

The Russians are mainly gaining ground in the easternmost zone of the front, on the borders of the Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Dnieper oblasts. They have started a downward spiral for Ukraine: their victories on the battlefield endanger the future of the country. Pokrovsk, a mining town whose coke is essential to the country, is also a strategic road junction. She is in the crosshairs of the Russians. Kurakhove and its power station are almost surrounded.

The Ukrainian defenders are fighting with automatic weapons to hold on at all costs. Behind, the men of engineering and the regional administration urgently dig trenches and prepare new positions. But they can't keep up. The breach in the Ukrainian system threatens to turn into a groundswell against which nothing can resist.

Answer

In comparison, elsewhere on the front, the Ukrainians held their ground and managed to stop the Russian troops. Is this difference solely due to the efforts undertaken by the Kremlin to seize this portion of territory? The Ukrainians lack men and weapons, but does this lack alone explain the defeats? Could tactical choices and errors have contributed to the Ukrainian army's losses?

The Point immersed himself in this region to show the daily life of a population which fell into war, to measure Russian progression, to reveal the reality of the front and the tactics used. An immersion in four episodes with the Ukrainians – civilians, drone pilots and commanders – who are fighting with incredible courage.
