TRIAL – The requisitions have fallen. At the trial of Pierre Palmade which opened this Wednesday, November 20 in , the prosecutor requested five years in prison, three of which were suspended against the comedian who caused an accident last year while he was was driving under the influence of drugs. The collision left three people from the same family seriously injured: a 38-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby she was expecting in the accident.

Pierre Palmade is a repeat offender in this case due to a conviction in 2019 for drug use. He thus faces a sentence of fourteen years' imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 euros.

Before the requisitions, the lawyer for the civil parties Me Mourad Battikh had underlined in his pleading that his clients “ lost the taste for life “. In reference to the actor's comments during his audition, explaining that because of drugs, he had ” lost taste for life ».

“When you lose a kid, there are no words. When you lose a fetus, there is no law”continued the lawyer for the civil parties. From the start of the trial, he contested the fact that Pierre Palmade was dismissed for “unintentional injuries” and not for “manslaughter”despite the death of the young woman's baby, who is not considered a person because he died before he was born.

Mourad Battikh regretted that “French law protects animals better than unborn children”. “You run over a 3-month-old puppy in your parking lot, you must answer criminally for this. It's absolutely mind-boggling.”he denounced.

But this Wednesday, the prosecutor estimated that “ It is not up to justice to decide this debate. This is why the prosecution did not persist and followed the case law […] of the Court of Cassation » on the legal status of the fetus.
