Marc Brys and Cameroon finished qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in style on Tuesday in Yaoundé. Guaranteed to participate in the final tournament for some time, the Indomitable Lions beat Zimbabwe 2-1.
Vincent Aboubakar (18th, 1-0) and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou (23rd, 2-0) put Cameroon in control even if Terrence Dzvukamanja (73rd, 2-1) had made the end of the match more thrilling. The Indomitable Lions finished first in group J with 14 points out of 18. Zimbabwe (9 points, 2nd) are also qualified while Kenya (6 points) and Namibia (2 points) are eliminated.
Three other Belgian coaches also won their ticket for the final phase scheduled from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco: Tom Saintfiet (with Mali), Hugo Broos (with South Africa) and Paul Put (with Uganda).
In Group H, Ibrahim Diakite, the defender of Cercle Bruges, started during Guinea’s 1-0 defeat in Tanzania. A success which allows the Tanzanians (10 points, 2nd) to overtake Guinea (9 points) and qualify for the final phase.
