The wind will blow strong during the day Tuesday November 19. 64 departments are on alert for violent winds. Peaks of up to 80 km/h are expected in Maine-et-Loire. The department is placed in yellow vigilance by Météo France between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m..
“In the departments on yellow wind alert, maximum gusts reach 90 to 100 km/h, locally 110 km/h on the Atlantic islands and exposed hills,” announces the Weather Channel.
Falling temperatures
After sometimes sustained rain and wind in the northern half on Tuesday, a polar air mass arrives in the country on Wednesday causing temperatures to drop to mid-winter levels. Temperatures should peak between 5 and 10°C at the best of the day, values comparable to the January averages.
“In this cold context for the season, a new disturbance will begin in the country. North of the depression, cold air will resist and precipitation will occur in the form of snow down to the plain. The precise location of this episode remains to be refined. An area going from Poitou, even Pays de la Loire in Franche-Comté and the north of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes seems to be the most at risk to date for observing a small layer of snow on the ground,” warns Météo France.
