The weather is expected to be cold over a large part of France this week, with possible snowfall in the plains.
Winter is coming. The weather looks set to be disrupted this week and will be marked by the return of snow in the mountains at low altitude and a “much windier atmosphere”, according to Météo France forecasts.
This deterioration is due to a rainy disturbance which arrives “via the coasts of the English Channel in a flow from the west then northwest”, explains the organization on its site.
• A cloudy Monday
This Monday, November 18, Météo France forecasts rain from the morning in the northern third of the country. Precipitation which will also affect Centre-Val de Loire and Burgundy in the afternoon. Elsewhere, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with the exception of the South-West where it will be a little brighter.
Maximum temperatures will not exceed 8 to 11°C from the North-East to Limousin and the north of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. According to Météo France, they should reach 11 to 14°C in the rest of the country and will be a little higher in the South.
• Showers Tuesday
The weather will remain mixed over a large part of France on Tuesday, with showers expected everywhere except in the South. In the morning, temperatures will be 10 to 13°C in the northern half and 11 to 15°C in the south. They will be lower in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, ranging from 4 to 9°C.
The afternoon will be cool in the northern half, from 9 to 12°C. It will be milder in the South, hovering around 15°C.
• Temperatures drop Wednesday
Temperatures will drop from Wednesday and the weather will cool down across the country. However, it will be calm and the sun will cover a large part of the territory. The South-West will experience rain and clouds. The southern third of the country will have rather mild temperatures, between 10 and 15°C in the morning and 9 and 17°C in the afternoon.
Is snow disappearing in France?
In the rest of the country, temperatures will be very low in the morning: up to 1°C in Belfort, with a few snowflakes possible in the region, according to Météo France, 4°C in Lille, 5°C in Paris… The cold will continue in the afternoon, with temperatures around 5°C in the East and 8°C in the West.
• A cold day Thursday
Thursday will also be cold in mainland France. Temperatures will even be negative in places in the East and in the Alps, where snow could fall. They will go up to 7°C in the morning in the northern half and from 3 to 11°C in the morning in the southern half. They will rise little in the afternoon, peaking at 8°C, except in the South where they will be milder. From Brittany to Provence, via Occitanie and the Basque Country, the weather will be rainy. Further north, Météo France is expecting sunshine.
Temperatures could rise over the weekend, despite rainy weather forecast.
