Towards a social autumn? As calls for mobilization multiply, what movements are planned until December 31?

The coming fall and winter promise to be “social”. In a few days, several social movements were announced in turn by several unions. Started with that of farmers, who intend to mobilize from Monday November 18.

Farmers on the front from November 18

Farmers are returning to mobilization after the “strikes” operations at the start of the year. Discontent has escalated as the government prepares to sign the controversial free trade treaty with Mercosur, which farmers oppose. They are demanding, a contrario, the continuation of the implementation of the measures promised by the Attal government.

From Monday, farmers are planning demonstrations across France in front of prefectures and on roundabouts. Although the FNSEA indicated that the highways would not be blocked, disruptions are expected on the road network. This mobilization could extend until mid-December, underlined the Young Farmers.

Early childhood is mobilizing

Tuesday, November 19, it is the turn of the early childhood sector to go on strike. The CGT has launched a national call to demonstrate with the collective “No babies in the deposit box”. Salaries, employment, public services and quality of reception are at the heart of the demands for this day of mobilization.

SNCF on strike from November 20

The railway group's unions announced an “ultimatum” day on November 21, before an indefinite strike from December 11. Trade unionists are calling for a moratorium against the dismantling of Fret SNCF and protesting against the opening of regional lines to competition. The strike will begin on Wednesday November 20 at 7 p.m. until Friday November 22 at 8 a.m. The “festivities” will continue in December if the government and the SNCF do not respond to their demands.

Public services on strike on December 5

A national day of action and strike has been planned by seven of the eight public service union organizations, following the announcements of so-called “economic” measures within the administration. This will take place on December 5.

“Guillaume Kasbarian (their supervisory minister, Editor’s note) did not respond to most of the other proposals and demands”, alerted the unionists in a press release. The government plans to eliminate categories AB and C of civil servants.

Biology laboratories: a week of mobilization during the holidays

The end-of-year holiday period will be marked by a week of strike initiated by four biologists' unions (SDBio, SNMB and SLBC) from December 23 to 31. The angry inter-union denounces “the drastic reduction in the prices of medical biology procedures” which was to them “imposed without consultation” at the beginning of September by the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM).
