Charred vehicle “cut in two”, passengers “charred”: a terrible road accident leaves five dead, including a 20-year-old

The vehicle apparently hit a plane tree.

A terrible tragedy struck the roads of Tarn this Sunday morning. In a serious road accident, five people were found lifeless in a burning vehicle, we learned from our colleagues at La Dépêche du Midi.

A 20-year-old boy, thrown from the vehicle, did not survive

It was around 4:45 a.m. this Sunday, November 17, that emergency services were called for a road accident which occurred on the Departmental 988, at the Gaillac exit towards Lisle-sur-Tarn. On site, a burning vehicle was “cut in two” with four people “charred” inside. Another person, thrown from the car, was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The man, aged around 20, could not be resuscitated and died.

According to the information available to our colleagues, the accident occurred 200 meters from a roundabout. After a slight curve to the left of the roundabout, the rental Renault Captur hit a plane tree on the right. The ejected man was 20 meters from the vehicle.

The circumstances of the tragedy still unknown

An investigation has been opened. At this time, it is not possible to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The trail of excessive speed and nevertheless favored by the investigators.

“It’s too early to have the precise circumstances of the accident, but a priori, we are on a single vehicle involved”indicated the prosecutor's office to our colleagues, who also announced that the victims were being identified.
