32. Sebastian Holzmann (Germany) | + 2.09 |
41. Marcel Hirscher (Netherlands) | + 2.59 |
DNF Anton Tremmel (Germany) | eliminated |
Conclusion 1st round: Ten athletes are within one second and we can look forward to a thrilling finale. Linus Straßer is fully involved, only three tenths are missing from the front. Sebastian Holzmann and Anton Tremmel are not in the final of the top 30. Marcel Hirscher’s slalom comeback went wrong. The former dominator had big problems and clearly missed the final.
1st round: Straßer is on course for the podium, Holzmann missed the final. What does Anton Tremmel show us? A good and determined drive that ended too early with a missed goal.
1st round: From a German perspective there is no good news. Holzmann is now only 31st, meaning he won’t be in the final.
1st round: With start number 40 we see the biggest surprise here. Eduard Hallberg from Finland was not on the bill here. After a strong ride he goes into eighth place, the crowd goes wild.
1st round: Two other athletes pass Hirscher, meaning he will not reach the final. And things are starting to get tight for Holzmann too.
1st round: Lucas Pinheiro Braathen is driving in Levi for the first time. The Brazilian finds it easy at the top, but the slope is no longer ideal. On the steep slope he performs at his best and makes up time again. With 86 hundredths he is ninth and still within striking distance of the podium.
1st round: After more than five years, Marcel Hirscher returns to slalom. He drives very enthusiastically, but is already a second behind on the steep slope. The grip is not ideal, he has to really fight here. With a gap of 2.59 he is only 27th. That probably won’t be enough for the final.
1st round: So now the tension is rising. Marcel Hirscher comes with starting number 31, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen with 33.
1st round: We have to keep Tanguy Nef from Switzerland on our radar. With the high starting number 28, he ranks sixth. Everything is still there for the Swiss.
1st round: Istok Rodes from Croatia and Ramon Zenhäuser from Switzerland move ahead of Holzmann. Meanwhile the tension is rising, we’re about to see Marcel Hirscher.
1st round: Holzmann is doing well at the top, but a slight wobble in front of the steep slope costs some time. It drives smoothly, but lacks dynamics. He is initially 17th, 2.09 seconds behind, and the second round is not yet certain.
1st round: Albert Popov from Bulgaria is in tenth place, 1.11 behind. That was a solid performance. Now we see Sebastian Holzmann.
1st round: Samuel Kolega from Croatia is in seventh place, only 65 hundredths behind. It is within reach of the podium.
1st round: Alex Vinatzer from Italy is eliminated. Luca Aerni from Switzerland and Tommaso Sala from Italy are over two seconds behind.
1st round: Alexander Steen Olsen won the season opener in Sölden. What does the Norwegian show us in the slalom today? He’s as stable as usual on the skis, and it’s his turn before the steep slope. All in all, this is a controlled and good ride. With a gap of 57 hundredths, we definitely have to take him into account for the final.
1st round: Two more Austrians are upstairs. Johannes Strolz collects a pack, that’s more than two seconds. Dominik Raschner does better, he is in eleventh place. The visibility is becoming more difficult now, there is more fog.
1st round: Kristoffer Jakobsen from Sweden cannot keep up, 1.71 seconds behind. Fabio Gstrein from Austria is eliminated.
1st round: Steven Amiez from France is not one of the top favorites here, but he shows us a very strong run here. He has control over his material and drives it very cleanly. He moved into third place ahead of Straßer, which is quite a surprise.
1st round: The top favorites are now below. Straßer had a top run, we can already say that. Meanwhile, Marc Rochat from Switzerland was eliminated after missing a goal.
1st round: Another Norwegian is at the top. Atle Lie McGrath was also on the podium in Sölden. But he doesn’t have complete control either and always slips away easily. That’s 1.43 seconds at the finish, which is currently last place.
1st round: Henrik Kristoffersen started the season with a podium in Sölden. That should give a boost. But he is already behind on the steep slope, he doesn’t seem to have enough grip. Phew, the Norwegian is also over a second behind.
1st round: The best slalom rider from last season is at the top. Manuel Feller is already half a second behind on the steep slope. The ski slides wildly back and forth, but unfortunately that was nothing. 1.16 behind, so the podium is probably over for the Austrian today.
1st round: Does Yule’s compatriot make it better? Loic Meillard is at the top, it’s a very controlled but efficient driving style. But Noel was extremely fast at the bottom and Meillard lost his lead there. But only very thinly, that’s only two hundredths.
1st round: Dave Ryding from Great Britain initially moves into third place. He’s still within striking distance. Four tenths are missing from Noel. Daniel Yule from Switzerland is already a long way behind at the top and it’s impossible to catch up on the steep climbs. No, Yule didn’t get his first run because he lacked basic speed. He is fifth, 1.22 behind.
1st round: The Olympic champion is fighting against Straßer’s time. Clement Noel from France drives with risk, the split times are fluctuating. At the bottom, Noel is significantly faster than Straßer and takes the lead.
1st round: What does Straßer answer? Things look better at the top, he’s also in the lead. He extends his lead before the key point. Straßer pulverizes Haugan’s time, what’s going on here? He’s 77 hundredths ahead, that was really strong!
1st round: Haugan opens this race. He makes a mistake at the top, but that can be overcome on the flat part. The steep slope is key in this race. There are some uncertainties, but he sets the first time at 1:00.74. And now comes Straßer.
Before the race: Timon Haugan from Norway is getting ready, it will start in just a few moments.
Before the race: It’s wintery in Levi. Yesterday the piste was also in good condition, today we expect a similar scenario.
Before the race: Four Germans are at the start today. Straßer has start number 2, Sebastian Holzmann has 24, Anton Tremmel has 47 and Adrian Meisen has 62.
Before the race: And then there are no comebackers. Marcel Hirscher has starting number 31, Lucas Braathen has 33.
Before the race: They are followed by co-favorites Clement Noel, Dave Ryding, Daniel Yule, Loic Meillard, Manuel Feller, Henrik Kristoffersen and Atle Lie McGrath. The race is completely open and there is no shortage of favorites.
Before the race: Timon Haugan from Norway will open this slalom. Linus Straßer will start the race with starting number 2.
Before the race: It starts at 10 a.m. And then really. Because in the first round we see the top athletes right at the start of the race.

Alpine skiing in the live ticker today: The preliminary report on the race
32 World Cup victories, six successes in the discipline rankings, three World Cup titles and an Olympic silver medal – that Marcel Hirscher’s record in the slalom is impressive. In 2019 he celebrated his last World Cup victory in Schladming, of course in the slalom.
Alpine skiing in the live ticker today: Straßer comes with a big dose of self-confidence
On Sunday he celebrates his comeback in dancing around the poles. That the 35-year-old was in his first slalom in more than five years It is rather unlikely that he will be back on the podium straight away. Nevertheless, many eyes in Levi are on the Austrian, who is now competing for the Netherlands.
It might be convenient for Linus Straßer that the great attention is not focused on him. The Munich native has the potential to become a leading actor in Finland. The 32-year-old is coming off the strongest season of his career. For the first time he won two races in one season and reached the podium in the slalom five times. He took second place in the discipline ranking.
Alpine skiing in the live ticker today: Four DSV athletes at the start – the list of favorites is long
The athlete from TSV 1860 Munich has been among the world’s best in slalom for four years. Straßer got through the summer well and goes into the new season with a lot of self-confidence. He gave a first taste of his good form at the start of the World Cup in Sölden. At the giant slalom in Sölden he finished a respectable 22nd.
The giant slalom is not one of his greatest strengths – in contrast to the slalom. Straßer goes into this as one of the favorites first men’s Levi race in five years. From a German perspective, Sebastian Holzmann, Anton Tremmel and Adrian Meisen are also there. In contrast to Straßer, they are just outsiders.
The list of other favorites is long. Manuel Feller from Austria won the discipline ranking in the previous season. Norway is sending four hot candidates for the podium into the race: Henrik Kristoffersen, Alexander Steen-Olsen, Atle Lie McGrath and Timon Haugan.
Lucas Braathen is actually Norwegian too. Since this season, the half-Brazilian has started for his mother’s home country. During his comeback in Sölden, the 24-year-old showed that he continues to be at the top of the field in the world heard. He is just as one of the favorites as the French Olympic champion Clement Noel, Loic Meillard from Switzerland and his compatriot Daniel Yule. Click here for the start list
