Thanks to the test match between France and New Zealand (30-29), TF1 gathered nearly 7.3 million viewers on average on Saturday evening on its channel.
TF1 can be delighted to have recovered the rights for the matches of the French XV this fall. This Saturday, Antoine Dupont and his teammates beat New Zealand (30-29) after an intense fight. The broadcaster attracted nearly 7.3 million viewers on average during the game, for a 38% audience share.
The shock allowed TF1 to achieve a peak of 8.3 million viewers during the evening. Last Saturday, the channel brought together 4.5 million rugby fans during the victory of the French XV against Japan (52-12). For comparison, the football match between France and Israel brought together 4.95 million people on TF1 last Thursday.
TF1 could focus on the VI Nations Tournament in the future
Next Friday (9:10 p.m.), the XV of France will return to the Stade de France for their last match of 2024, against Argentina. This last test match will also be broadcast by TF1. In recent days, the Team indicated that the front page was interested in the rights to the VI Nations Tournament, put back on the market from 2026.
In France, France Télévisions is the current broadcaster of the competition. This season, 6 million viewers (or 35.5% audience share) gathered on average for the matches of the French XV during the VI Nations.
The very good audience for this France-New Zealand could therefore encourage TF1 to focus on rugby and the Blues of Fabien Galthié. This Sunday (8:45 p.m.), the private channel will broadcast the game between Italy and France in the Nations League, for the last match of the year for Didier Deschamps' men.
